DESCRIPTION:Tarleton Jazz Ensembles kick off the spring semester Monday\, Feb. 12\, with a tribute to one of history's most important American composers\, Duke Ellington.\n\n \n\nThe 7:30 p.m. concert features the music of Ellington with an educational twist. The band will play original arrangements of some of Duke's most famous compositions and feature arrangements of his music by modern composers. \n\n \n\n"This concert is guaranteed to leave the audience with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the most important American composer in music history\, as well as humming a few tunes\," said Andrew Stonerock\, director of Tarleton Jazz Ensembles\,\n\n \n\nOn the set list are Ellington standards "Satin Doll\," "Take the A Train\," "Isfahan\," "Concerto for Cootie\," and more. \n\n \n\nThe box office opens one hour before the concert begins. General admission tickets are $5.  Tarleton faculty\, staff and students get in free with their university ID.\n\n \n\nTarleton\, founding member of The Texas A&M University System\, provides a student-focused\, value-driven educational experience\, marked by academic innovation and a dedication to transform today's scholars into tomorrow's leaders.
